The One Thing I Must Do!

“The Eyes Have It”

It is not easy to know when you are going to die. And we will probably all die of something different. All plans need time to execute, and death is always present in our lives, so you can't plan anything in your life if you think about death.

It is challenging to define accomplishment after a person dies. Life is meant to be lived to the fullest, and it is not for achievements. The journey of life can be likened to a movie in a theater. You are fully aware that it is going to end in a few hours. Therefore, without judging the characters on the screen, you enjoy watching the movie to the best of your ability. According to the movie's plot, you pass through numerous emotions.

You may cry. Maybe you will laugh. Feel angry or walk away feeling better than ever.  You know very well the characters are imaginary, and the movie is fiction, but you end up carrying all that mixture of emotions.

My time of death may come at any time because anyone born must die one day, so I prefer to view my life as a movie. Outstanding achievements need not be left behind in this world after you die.

“There is no Time like the Present”

The most crucial thing is to live your life as you wish and do the things you like. However, before I die, I would like to donate my eyes. Because it is only through eye donation that a human cornea can be procured. There are very many corneal blind persons in the world. An eye can be donated and stored in an eye bank.

The collection, storage, and distribution of donor's eyes are done by an organization known as an eye bank which does corneal grafting, research, and supply of eye tissues for other ophthalmic purposes.

A cornea transplant surgery takes only half an hour, and the removal of eyes takes twenty minutes. An eye can only be donated within eight hours of death. I can give life to two blind people because one cornea is grafted onto one person.

All religions have endorsed the donation of eyes. Additionally, eyes are never bought or sold.

“Anybody Can Do It”

There are no qualifications to be a donor. Anyone can donate irrespective of their age, sex, religion, or blood group. People who have diabetes and even spectacle wearers can donate. I wish to impact someone else's life by giving them the ability to see and appreciate life. Being blind is not easy, as a person does not recognize the world they are living in. In my life, I have always had a dream of impacting people's lives.

Impacting people's lives leaves an indelible mark that will make them never forget about you, and that is the legacy I would love to leave behind. I do not want significant achievements as life is not about grandiose goals but about making a difference and making the world a better place to live in. So, do what Jesus did, and make the blind see.
